EMBRACING & SHARING GOD TOGETHER Teaching | Fellowship | Compassion | Prayer OUR HISTORY {when we started}: Pastor Joel was called from Harlem NYC to attend a Bible College in Cleveland, Tennessee (1989) where he met his wife Kristi, from Central Illinois. Upon graduating (1993), they were called to find the toughest place in Tampa, Florida to start a church, and Ybor City became the target. In 1996, they started in their home with prayer and preparation. In Feb. 1997, together with two other families, they rented an office space in Ybor City on 6th avenue to become equipped for this vision. In Feb. 1998, the church was launched and held its first worship gathering at a Haitian SDA Church on 11th avenue. In Oct. 2005, the church became active members with the Tampa Bay Baptist Association. In Jan. 2006, the church moved and rented an Ybor City Club on Palm Avenue and eventually outgrew the meeting space. By Jan. 2007, the church purchased its first property on 18th avenue. The ministry opened its Bible Institute named, Sola Scriptura Institute, in April 2009. By Oct. 2010, the church acquired another house and lot to expand its 18th avenue campus in Ybor. The ministry continues to grow and expand its vision in the City of Tampa. OUR VISION {what we see}: An urban, multi-ethnic church family which gathers in multiple sites in Tampa; equipping and empowering believers to engage their world by embracing and sharing GOD together. OUR MISSION {how we do it}: Embracing GOD in true worship with sound teaching and intimate prayer; and sharing GOD together by serving others in united fellowship and sincere compassion. OUR PURPOSE {why we do it}: Our objective is to make the Christian life simple. Our purpose is found in Acts 2:42, "They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer." OUR VALUES {what are our priorities}: We commit ourselves to four core values: - TEACHING - We honor God's Word.
- FELLOWSHIP - We value relationships.
- COMPASSION - We serve our community.
- PRAYER - We intercede for others.
